Preserving a titan
Ray Harryhausen‘s original animation model of Talos from the 1963 cult classic film Jason and the Argonauts, is now in his 50s and has suffered the ravages of time.
With permission of the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation, Raven Armoury produced the limited edition bronze sculpture, Talos Frozen in Time, from a high resolution 3D scan of the animation model. The sculpture shows Talos exactly as he was in March 2014.
Talos Frozen in Time was produced as a limited edition of 9 bronze and 25 cold cast bronze sculptures. He weighs over 20lbs in bronze and 12lbs in cold cast bronze.
Making Talos Awakes
Talos was scanned at the start of the project to create Talos Awakes. A limited edition bronze sculpture kneeling on a plinth, head turned, at the moment the titan came to life.
We’ve wrote a series of illustrated posts documenting the mammoth task of bringing our Talos Awakes sculpture to life.
These sculptures were hand made by Raven Armoury in association with The Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation.
Based on effects characters created by Ray Harryhausen for a Charles H. Schneer Production.
