Talos Awakes
Talos is one of the most iconic creations of Ray Harryhausen, the master of stop animation special effects. Talos Awakes recreates the Titan as came to life in the 1963 cult classic film Jason and the Argonauts.
Simon Fearnhamm of Raven Armoury was asked to finish a sculpture Ray started in the 1990’s. He enlisted my help to sculpt the figure from a scan of the original animation model. The project took several years and thousands of hours of meticulous work to complete.

A word from Raven Armoury
It is an absolute privilege to have been given the opportunity to work so intimately with such iconic creations. No matter what we are working on we are perfectionists at every stage of production. This begins with the sculpting of the original masters and carries on through moulding, making waxes, casting bronzes, fettling, finishing, patinating and even wrapping up and packaging. We have been extremely focused in every aspect of these editions.
When Vanessa Harryhausen, Ray’s daughter, asked me if I would take up the challenge of finishing the Talos Awakes sculpture, using the original animation model for the figure, I instantly agreed. Talos has always been one of my favourite of Ray’s creations and having the opportunity to make a sculpture of him was a dream come true.
